There are thousands of things to do in Venezuela, and you can do lots but still enjoy them at a relaxed pace, unplugged from hectic schedules and far from city noise.
Fitness level: Active Destinations: Canaima, Andes, Llanos, Los Roques Duration: 12 days / 11 nights
Day 1. Caracas - Puerto Ordaz Meet your guide at the airport and take a connecting flight to Puerto Ordaz in the south. Overnight at Posada Angostura. ( - / - / -). Day 2. Puerto Ordaz – Canaima Fly to Canaima National Park. Visit the Canaima Lagoon, a beautiful river lagoon with red waters splashed by the Ucaima, Wadaima, Golondrina and Hacha waterfalls. Walk underneath the Sapo or Hacha falls, then travel in a curiara riverboat to our camp. ( - / L / D). Day 3. Angel Falls Take a 2-hour boat ride through the Carrao and Churún rivers to Angel Falls. At Ratón Island, walk to the view point for a closer look. Return to the island for lunch. Overnight in Ratoncito camp. (B / L / D). Day 4. Canaima – Mérida Take a boat to Ucaima and the first camp. Fly to Ciudad Bolívar, transfer to Puerto Ordaz and then fly to Mérida. Overnight at Posada Casa Sol. (B / - / -). Day 5. Mérida – San José After breakfast, the 4 x 4 takes us south to Jaji to visit a trapiche (sugarcane mill), and then on to the coffee museum. At San José, we go mountain biking. Overnight in cozy chalets with trout ponds. (B / L / D). Day 6. San José – Mérida Go down Tostos valley on mountain bikes, then go on horseback to visit the town and the local people. After lunch and a short rest, return to Mérida. Overnight at Posada Casa Sol. (B / L / -). Day 7. Mérida – Los Llanos Take the Trasandina route to Los Llanos. Overnight at Hato Cedral. (B / - / D). Day 8. Hato Cedral Explore the plains with a guide and see the abundant wildlife, including thousands of birds. (B / L / D). Day 9. Hato Cedral – Caracas Take a morning excursion before driving to the airport (although this could change, depending on the flight schedule). Overnight at Macuto (close to Maiquetía Airport, Caracas). (B / - / -). Day 10. Caracas – Los Roques Fly to Los Roques National park, a virtually uninhabited archipelago of paradise islands with white-sand beaches in a tranquil turquoise sea. (- / - / D). Day 11. Los Roques Explore the closer islets and their lovely white sands. (B / L / D). Day 12. Los Roques – Caracas Depending on the flight schedule, take time to walk around town and take your last pictures. (B /- / -).

Best season for this program: All year round. Note, however, that the wet season is very different from the dry season in Los Llanos; the dry season is best for wildlife watching.
