Ancient Lands in the Guayana Region

Explore some of the world’s most ancient lands, visit Canaima — a UNESCO world heritage site — and navigate the clear, dark waters of Amazonas.

Day 1. Carcas, Caracas -  Ciudad Guayana

Meet your travel assistant at the Maiquetía airport in Caracas and he/she will welcome you to Venezuela, answer all your questions, and transfer you to your connecting flight to Ciudad Guayana, the capital of the Guayana region. Upon arrival at Ciudad Guayana, you will be transferred to Ciudad Bolivar (about a 3 hour drive). Overnight at Posada Angostura. ( - / - /  - ).

Note: You need to arrive at Maiquetía airport before 12:00 pm. If you cannot be there before noon, Turpial Travel can make arrangements - at additional costs - to stay one night in a hotel of your preference close to the airport.

Day 2. Ciudad Bolivar – Canaima National Park

Fly to Canaima National Park. Visit the Canaima Lagoon, a beautiful river lagoon with red waters splashed by the Ucaima, Wadaima, Golondrina and Hacha waterfalls. Walk underneath the Sapo or Hacha falls, then travel in a curiara (an Indian riverboat) to our rainforest camp. ( - / L / D).

Day 3: Angel Falls

Take a two-hour boat ride to Angel Falls through the Carrao and Churún rivers and eat lunch at Ratón Island. Overnight at a rainforest camp in the Churún river. (B / L / D).

Day 4: Canaima – Orinoco Camp

Take a boat ride to Ucaima Port on the Canaima lagoon. Returning to the first camp you stayed in, ready for the flight back to Ciudad Bolívar. Transfer to to the Orinoco Discovery camp in Castilla de Guayana (a 5 hour drive). Overnight at Orinoco Discovery camp. (B / - / D).

Day 5: Orinoco Delta

At the camp take a tour down the Orinoco River. Fish piranhas and enjoy the ecosystem. Depending on weather conditions, you may take an ultra-light flight to see the Delta from the air (with an extra cost). Overnight at Orinoco Discovery camp. (B / L / D).

Day 6: Ciudad Guayana – Caracas

Depart the Orinico Camp for Caracas for departure flight. (B / - / - ).

Total meals: Breakfast (B); Lunch (L); Dinner (D)

Best season for this program: It is best to see Angel Falls in the rainy season (May to September), otherwise it might be impossible to reach it because of river conditions.
